An impact absorber made of the polyamide particle foam Ultramid® Expand jointly developed by BASF and Mercedes-Benz for the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX technology program has won 2nd place in the “Enabler Technology” category at the SPE Automotive Awards 2024. New regulations, such as the revised End-of-Life Vehicles Directive in Europe, are pushing the automotive industry towards a circular economy. This shift emphasizes the importance of vehicle recyclability at the end of their service life. The recycled fibers can be granulated and spun into new fibers. The carrier material, Propylat PET, contains at least 50% recycled fibers and is available under the Autoneum Blue sustainability label, which includes at least 30% recycled PET collected from coastal areas, aiding in ocean plastic pollution prevention.
The new polyester trunk trim is available in Europe, North America, and China.
